Valencia CF to face Sporting CP in preseason friendly
One of Valencia CF's preseason fixtures for the summer of 2019 will see a meeting between Spain and Portugal's domestic cup winners, as they take on Sporting Clube de Portugal in Lisbon.
The game will be held on Sunday, July 28th, at 7pm local time, at the José Alvalade stadium. It pits VCF, the winners of the Copa del Rey last month, against the reigning Taça de Portugal holders, who bested FC Porto on penalties.
Both sides will participate in European action next season: Valencia CF in the UEFA Champions League, and Sporting in the UEFA Europa League. The Portuguese team placed third in their national league in 2018/19.
This will be the 13th encounter between the two teams, who have only coincided twice in official competition: Over two legs in the Fairs Cup in 1968.
The most recent friendly game was in July of 2017, and Valencia CF won 3-0.
The summer fixture will be Sporting CP's presentation game.
